A MALVERN woman received a letter inviting her for a scan to check on her pregnancy less than a month after her baby had died.
Tracey Hooper, aged 31, gave birth to Edward in an emergency caesarean at Worcestershire Royal Hospital on November 24, just 26 weeks into the pregnancy.
Little Edward was transferred to a hospital in Dudley, but died on December 8. The family buried him on December 22.
Last week, Mrs Hooper was horrified when she got a letter from Worcestershire Royal Hospital inviting her to an appointment for the scan.
"I just could not believe it," she said. "I can't find the words to describe how I felt. I just thought it was too much after all I had been through."
Mrs Hooper was so upset that she had to get her mother to phone the hospital to complain.
"From what they said to my mum, it's not the first time this has happened," she said. "They should change the system so this can't happen to anyone else."
Mrs Hooper received a letter of apology on Tuesday.
"It was just four lines long and it didn't even have a hand-written signature," she said. "Why couldn't someone have called me and apologised in person?"
A spokesman for Worces-tershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust said: "The family has contacted us with their concerns and we are following them up. We will respond directly to the family when we know what happened.
"We offer our sincere apologies to the family for their distress at this difficult time."
