GRAHAM Turner has ordered his Hereford players to put right September's Shay shocker and rubber-stamp safe passage into the FA Trophy last 16.

The Bulls face arguably the competition's most daunting challenge when they travel to Halifax Town tomorrow.

The West Yorkshire club are the only Conference side to boast an unbeaten home league record with their only defeat at headquarters coming against League One Scunthorpe in the LDV Vans Trophy. United were one of Town's eight league conquests, losing 2-1 in September despite taking an interval lead through Danny Carey-Bertram's early strike.

Bulls chief Turner labelled it a 'dire performance' and reckons this latest jousting at The Shay provides an opportunity to set the record straight.

"I regard this as a challenge, not as the most difficult FA Trophy tie," said Turner. "First of all, it was probably our poorest performance for a long time when we lost at Halifax earlier in the season.

"It was a dire performance from us after taking the lead. We were just poor in the second-half, I don't think we played well at all. That is one thing we need to put right."

Although the FA Trophy carries less priority than league success for the Edgar Street club, Turner would like nothing better than picking up silverware at the end of the season.

He added: "We made the semi-finals a few years ago and the quarter-finals last year. We would have liked to have reached the final, but that's cup football.

"We want to win every game and we want to beat Halifax. We've only lost two in our last 18 matches, which is a decent record, and we want to keep that going."

Turner was boosted this week with the return to training of Tony James, Stacy Coldicott, Andy Ferrell and Guy Ipoua.

The foursome -- unlikely to be considered for selection tomorrow -- may figure in a reserve-team game against Kidderminster Harriers at Edgar Street pencilled in for Monday, provided neither club requires an FA Trophy replay.

Of long-term injury victim Coldicott, Turner said: "Stacy seems to be over the back problem. He's not played any football and the most important thing is to get him playing games."

A change from the line-up that won at Scarborough last Saturday will be made, with Craig Mawson returning in goal for the unavailable Wayne Brown.

Meanwhile, Turner has been knocked back in his bid to sign a Football League player.

He added: "We've talked to two players this week and been unsuccessful from one who came back to us yesterday."
