DOUBLE Olympic champion Kelly Holmes and socialite Tamara Beckwith will learn to ice skate to the music of a Malvern composer after he landed a job writing the music for a new TV programme.
Paul Farrer was signed up for ITV1 show Dancing On Ice - described as Strictly Come Dancing with skates - which
is due to go on air at the end of the month.
It involves celebrities being taught to skate by legends Jayne Torvill and Chris Dean - whose unforgettable routine to Ravel's Bolero scored a perfect 6 at the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics.
Mr Farrer began work on the music for the show at his Malvern studio last September and completed it this week.
He describes what he has come up with as "funky, disco-y primetime dance music with a fairly operatic feel to it" and is is eagerly waiting to see the finished product when it hits TV screens.
He said: "It's quite an interesting show to work on musically because it's got to have the right feel for ice-skaters but at the same time appeal to a broad television audience.
"I'm pleased with what I came up with.
"It was also a bit of a challenge because the music had to be finished before the filming started so I had to picture what it would be like."
The composer has written for TV before - he penned the themes for The Weakest Link and the British version of the Jerry Springer Show
