BEWDLEY Town were left wondering what might have been after a goalkeeping blunder from Steve Thomas forced them to settle for a 2-2 draw with Lye Town in West Midlands League Premier Division.
It was all square at the break with Chris Hough's tap in from a Keith Elliott free kick on the stroke of half-time cancelling out the opener from the head of Lye's Liam Newall.
A rare blunder from Thomas from a back pass gave Lye a 48th minute lead when the stalwart stopper tried to dribble past Andy Burgess and the visitors' dangerman rolled the ball into an empty net.
After seeing his side dominating possession and trying in vain to get the equaliser, manager Craig Payton introduced Jan Mulders and the under-18 team's towering defender James Cronin in the last 15 minutes.
And the fresh legs paid off when Mulders started the move which saw Ben McCloughlin chip the ball to Lewis Pountney who took his goal tally to 14 by lobbing the oncoming keeper.
Payton was delighted to welcome back Neil Turford who suffered a horrific gashed thigh against Dudley Town in September and required major surgery.
He was also pleased to see McCloughlin return to Bewdley after a brief spell with Swifts.
Bewdley travel to Bustlehome at 2.45pm on Saturday looking to get back to winning ways.
