Studley 1
Moor Green 4
Worcestershire Senior Cup
STUDLEY may have bowed out of the cup but they were far from disgraced against a side who play their football three leagues higher.
The damage was done over a 15-minute spell midway through the first half when the Moors made the most of some sloppy defending to open up a 3-0 lead.
With the wind at their backs after the break, Studley came more into the game in the second half but had to wait until the final two minutes to find the net.
Bees keeper Craig Johnson produced an excellent save to deny Richard Scott on 19 minutes but from the resulting corner James Francis slotted home.
Five minutes later and the Moors were 2-0 ahead. The Studley defence waited for the offside flag allowing Gary McPhee to skip through unchallenged to beat the keeper only for Peter Faulds to nip in and score.
Chris Nurse tapped home a third on 34 minutes as the Bees failed to clear Phil Midworth's cross.
Studley's best chance of the first period fell to Shane Benjamin but he was denied by a saving tackle from towering defender Andy Penny.
But it was a different story after the break as Kevin Rowlands' side looked for a way back in to the game.
Benjamin saw his effort blocked and from the resulting corner, Kieran Cross sent his header just over the crossbar.
The Moors completed their tally midway through the second period when Francis latched on to a through ball and neatly took the ball around keeper Johnson before firing home.
The Bees stopper made good saves to deny Faulds and McPhee before the Midland Alliance side finished the tie off with their consolation effort.
Cross, Studley's star performer, sent in a ball from the left wing and Junior Hewitt looped his header over keeper James Coates.
The Bees were beaten 4-2 at Coalville Town on Saturday and will be hoping for a return to winning ways when they take on Biddulph at the Beehive on Saturday.
Alvechurch, whose games on Saturday and Tuesday were postponed, play host to Stratford Town.
