AN END could be in sight to the boardroom wrangles at Redditch United.
A group of five directors are at loggerheads with chairman Pat Cremin and vice-chairman Richard Shields over the running of the club.
Both groups are thought to have called extraordinary general meetings at the end of the month to try to bring the dispute to an end.
But it seems the situation could be resolved sooner after a series of talks were held involving the club's seven directors.
A number of supporters have called for Cremin to step down as chairman. Banners have been unfurled at the last two games at the Valley Stadium.
But the boardroom crisis came to a head this week when a second embargo was placed on the Nationwide Conference North strugglers stopping manager Gary Whild from bringing in new players.
League bosses slapped an embargo on the club just before Christmas when it came to light that League Two side Shrewsbury Town were owed money from last season to cover the loan period of midfielder Ross Stephens.
That debt was paid but the latest player ban is thought to follow a complaint from Walsall concerning the wages of Scott Dann and Joe Broad. Dann is on loan to the Reds until the end of the season while Broad spent two months with the club.
Whild, who is also one of the five directors looking to take charge of the club, had hoped to bring in a number of new players ahead of Saturday's trip to Leigh RMI and this weekend's Valley Stadium showdown with FA Cup heroes Nuneaton Borough.
Strikers Jermaine Clarke and Rory May had agreed deals with the Redditch boss while former defender Neil Manton was poised to return after switching to Southern League outfit Solihull Borough at the start of the season.
One player who could be back in the side for the Nuneaton game is goalkeeper Richard Anstiss.
The former Redditch favourite was a key member of last season's side but was sent out on loan to Midland Alliance outfit Boldmere St Michaels at the start of the season.
Whild explained: "I have spoken to Richard and he tells me he has been missing football at this level.
"Nathan (Vaughan) has a problem with a shoulder injury and hopefully, with Richard coming back, he can have that treated."
Defender Dennis Pearce is the latest to leave the club after agreeing a deal with league rivals Worcester City.
"Hopefully the fallout following the budget cut and Rod Brown's departure has finished now," Whild added.
"The players left at Redditch United are here for the right reasons and we need to move forward with the ones we have."
Whild will be hoping Nuneaton's players have their thoughts elsewhere when they make the trip to Redditch on Saturday. Boro head to Teeside on Tuesday for their Cup replay with Premiership giants Middlesboro.
