Ettington 2 Fairfield Villa 4
VILLA manager Paul Oakes was delighted at the way his side stood up to physical opposition in Saturday's victory in the Midland Combination Division One.
Oakes had been warned that no-nonsense Ettington would prove to be a physical battle.
He said: "I was delighted with the result. Ettington are uncompromising and get stuck in, but we stood up to them."
David Roussell, who bagged a hat trick, levelled the scores in the first half, before bagging two more goals.
Stuart Hall then added another, as Villa cemented their top four place in the division.
Oakes said: "We are starting to beat the sides around us and that's giving us some much needed breathing space."
