Evesham U-10- 3, Alcester 5
THE first game back from any holiday is always a worry, whether the lads will turn up wanting to play good aggressive rugby, turn up to play half a game or even turn up at all!
Luckily, Evesham were able to field 11 players who played one of their best matches of the season against far bigger opponents.
Alcester scored first after five minutes catching Evesham off guard with an individual darting run down the wing.
The visitors responded with extra gusto, winning all the scrums through huge pushes by Alex Tarplee, Aaron Park and Adam Johnson allowing James Williamson and Jack Witts to feed Thomas Heneghan who scored after a lightning run down the wing.
While Evesham were still celebrating, Alcester touched down again but, more determined than ever and with the parents and coaches shouting encouragement from the sideline, Mat Camp charged upfield and support from his colleagues led to Jack Witts crossing just before half-time.
The second half started like the first with Alcester scoring after a good passage of play.
Again the Evesham lads fought back from the restart with a solid tackle from Sam Waller and the forwards pushed upfield to release Billy Thomas to score again.
Alcester scored just before the final whistle to an impressive and encouraging game for both teams' coaches to a close.
