BOB Shaw has recently stepped down from the governing body at Prince Henry's High School after many years, several as chairman and is now devoting much of his energy to developing Evesham Cricket Club, with whom Prince Henry's has a formal agreement.
And, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to sport in general and cricket in particular at Prince Henry's and acknowledging his commitment to cricket locally, the governors of the Evesham school have named the main sports arena within the cricket centre The Bob Shaw Cricket Hall.
The then vice-chairman of governors, Dr Shaw was responsible from 1993 onwards for leading the Sports Hall project which led to the opening of the magnificent facility in 1997.
The Prince Henry's Sports Hall, or the Worcestershire Cricket Centre as it is more widely referred to, is one of the finest sports halls in the West Midlands and is one of the best indoor cricket facilities anywhere in the country.
Since the hall opened many hundreds of cricketers have visited the centre each year for individual coaching, club nets and indoor cricket matches.
One former Prince Henry's pupil, Daryl Mitchell, has broken into the Worcestershire side and it is hoped that more success will follow.
