YOUNGSTERS will be splashing around this summer now work has started on a wet play area.
The scheme, in Droitwich's Lido Park has been funded by a £75,000 grant from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and is due to be finished by the end of May.
It will be similar to the facilities built in Evesham and Pershore last year.
Wychavon's development manager Tim Deakin allayed fears that the work was to demolish the lido.
"The council is not demolishing the lido and anyone who suggests this is ill-informed," he said.
"We want to reassure residents that we are still looking at the redevelopment of the lido and the project is being considered by the executive board on Tuesday, January 24."
Use of the wet play area, constructed by Ustigate LTD will be free of charge from June. he authority has submitted ambitious plans to demolish the existing indoor pool, kiosk and water feature. It also wants to refurbish the caf, reception, changing room and toilets, create a car park, alter the pool tank and create three first-floor homes.
