SIR - We would like to clarify the question raised by your correspondent
C Penzer on Wednesday, December 21, regarding concessionary fares travel as it appears there is some confusion as to what is and isn't available.
C Penzer is correct to say that "the Chancellor's announcement ... offered "free" travel within city boundaries", but is confused about what will be delivered in Worcester. Worcester is providing the Government's free travel scheme. This means that a free bus pass will be available to residents over the age of 60 and those who are disabled, entitling them to free travel within the city boundaries after 9.30am weekdays and all day at the weekend and on bank holidays with effect from April 1, 2006. I hope this helps to clarify the misunderstanding in your reader's letter.
