A TRAUMATISED mum has said she was disgusted and distressed after a hospital sent her a letter inviting her for a scan to check on her baby's progress - just weeks after he had died. Tracey Hooper gave birth to her third child Edward at just 26 weeks, following an emergency caesarean on November 24, 2005. But he was so poorly he had to be transferred from the Worcestershire Royal Hospital to the Russells Hall hospital in Dudley, where his lungs collapsed and he died just two weeks later on Thursday, December 8. The Royal was informed of his death and has since faxed Mrs Hooper's GP informing him that Edward's death certificate had arrived.

But then on Thursday, to her horror, a letter from the hospital dropped through the door of Mrs Hooper's home in Orchid Court, Barnards Green, Malvern, inviting her for an ultrasound growth scan to check on how her baby was doing.

The 31-year-old said: "When I saw the letter I was absolutely distraught. I had to get my mother to phone and complain as I was too upset.

"What was even worse was that they told her this wasn't the first time this had happened.

"I had only buried my baby three weeks before and for this to happen after suffering such a loss is absolutely disgusting.

"I had to bring this to people's attention as I wouldn't want anyone else to have to go through this."

A Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust spokesman said: "We offer our very sincere apologies to the family for the distress caused at this difficult time.

"The family has contacted us with their concerns and we are following them up and will respond directly to them."
