THIS gigantic whalebone monument has returned to Evesham after a three-month makeover.
The structure, made from the jawbone of a Bowhead Greenland whale, was unveiled in Workman Gardens. It was placed on the site in 1906 and has now been treated with a protective resin.
Wychavon District Council's parks officer Lynn Stevens said: "The work should mean the mammoth jaws will last for another 100 years at least."
An outline of a whale's body, picked out in Welsh slate, has been set out on the ground around the jawbone.
The work took place after the Evesham Market Town Partnership, working closely with Wychavon District Council, won a £4,000 national award for its Riverside Regeneration Programme.
There is also a new information cabinet about the whale.
