A MAN in his 20s was killed when his car veered off a road and smashed into a tree.
Two fire crews from Worcester were called to the scene on the A443 Main Road, just north of Hallow, near Worcester, to free him from his vehicle.
However, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday morning on the road to Holt Heath.
Police arrived at the scene at around 4am. The man's body was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
Helen Williams lives about 100 yards further along the road from the site of the accident. The 42-year-old was not aware of the crash, but she did say there had been problems with speeding on that stretch of road.
She said: "I've been living here since August. Since then, there must have been at least one incident a month."
Mrs Williams said that, in September, a friend was visiting her home and, as she indicated right to turn into the driveway, she was hit from behind. She said she has to be extra careful when pulling out of her driveway because of the vehicles and a bend in the road that prevents her from seeing traffic coming from Hallow.
"Turning left out of the driveway is not as bad because we normally drive over the grass. But when going right I have the windows down so I can hear cars because I can't see around the bend."
As the Worcester News went to press police did not have any more details of the accident.
There have been at least two other serious incidents on the A443 in the past 12 months. In May last year, a woman was trapped in her vehicle following a head-on collision, while in February, four peple needed hospital treatment after a two-car crash in the same location.
