THE parish plan event on December 17 was well attended. Many people read the draft plan and made comments. The draft will stay on the Wellington Heath website and comments are welcome during January. The steering group meets on January 11 at 8pm at the Old Mill House. Everyone is welcome.
A group of residents decided a village New Year's Eve party would be a great idea and the evening proved to be a huge success with around 80 people enjoying the disco, dancing and buffet supper. There was also provision for children to watch videos so families could be together for the evening. An informal collection was made and £230 will be donated to the fund organised by Bryson and Margaret Garlick, which will help to send a second fishing boat to the survivors of the tsunami, in which the Garlick's daughter was so tragically lost.
Note that there will be a musical evening at the hall on March 25 for the same good cause.
The Wellington Heath Garden club has its AGM on January 11. Members are encouraged to attend as it is a make-or-break situation. Unless a new chairman and treasurer can be found the club is in danger of coming to an end, which would be such a great pity as it has been in existence for nearly 20 years with a good reputation for friendliness and interesting speakers. After the formal business is concluded, David Chamberlain will let us into the secrets of growing giant vegetables. David was prize-winner at Newent Onion Fair in 2004.
