A MAN was found with severe head injuries lying by his bike in a Malvern road.
He was discovered by a woman at the junction of Hall Green Road and Teme Avenue, with his electrically-assisted pedal-cycle on the kerb nearby.
The incident happened around 1.30pm on Christmas Eve, but was not reported to police for some seven hours.
The man was initially taken by ambulance to the accident and emergency department of Worcester Royal Hospital, but later transferred to the specialist Walsgrave Hospital, Coventry.
His condition this week was described as "stable".
Officers later sealed off the accident scene for a short while as part of their investigation into how the man was injured.
"No-one appears to have seen how this happened," said a police spokesman.
"There is currently nothing to show that the bicycle was in contact with another vehicle of any type, but the resultant injuries are so serious we can't rule out that possibility."
Police would like to hear from anyone who saw anything unusual in the area.
