A NEW stained glass panel depicting the dove of peace could soon be installed at All Saints' Church, Coddington.
Dinah Cowper-Johnson wants to put in the colourful roundel as a memorial to her late husband William.
The couple married at the church in 1989 and, after her husband's death two years ago, Mrs Cowper-Johnson decided to commission a piece of stained glass in his memory.
"I was just admiring the church's beautiful stained glass and thought how wonderful it would be to have a window there as a memorial to my husband," she said.
All Saints has been her favourite church ever since she attended morning communions there with her sister when visiting the area many years ago.
"It's such a beautiful place. I knew it was where I wanted to get married and it's where I want to give my husband a window," said Mrs Cowper-Johnson, who lives in Birmingham.
She said her husband, who died of cancer in 2003, would have loved the window's depiction of a dove with an olive branch and its message of peace.
Birmingham-based stained glass artist Paul Giorgiou has designed the window, which will be inserted into a plain leaded window on the south side of the chancel.
A copy of the design is on display on the church noticeboard. It shows a white dove on a red background and states simply 'CJ' (Mr Cowper-Johnson's nickname) and the dates of his birth and death.
Coddington Parish Church Committee has agreed in principle to the installation of the memorial and is waiting to get the final go-ahead from Hereford Diocese.
