PROBLEMS at both ends of the pitch are threatening to make life even more difficult for Kidderminster Harriers at Woking tomorrow.
Caretaker-boss Martin O'Connor continues to search for his much-needed first Conference victory with just one recorded in Harriers' last 11 league fixtures.
The slump, coupled with the on-going management issue that has lasted a month, turns Harriers into serious relegation candidates with all five sides below them boasting games in hand.
An error from 'keeper Daniel Lewis in the 1-0 home defeat to Burton followed by replacement John Danby's two slip-ups in the 3-0 loss at Altrincham on Monday just make matters worse.
And while O'Connor confessed he is worried about the lack of an in-form man to protect the defence, Harriers are also woefully short of options in attack.
Top scorer Iyseden Christie is only joined by Lee Thompson and Gareth Sheldon as genuine contenders for the forward positions with Harriers struggling for a cutting edge recently.
Extra pace will be added to the defence though with the return of Johnny Mullins who served a one-match ban at Altrincham for picking up five yellow cards.
However, of the goalkeepers, O'Connor said: "Goals we've conceded have been down to goalkeeping errors - not bad luck.
"When goalkeepers make errors they almost always end up in a goal. I've now told the two goalkeepers that they have to prove to me who wants the shirt - that's the challenge for them.
"Both John Danby and Daniel Lewis have got a lot of work to do to convince me that they should play."
And, looking at the lack of goals at the other end, O'Connor continued: "That's what we've been working on this week. In the last third in and around the box, our play has not been good enough.
"We did produce a better performance in the second game against Altrincham than the first match or against Burton."
The blessing for Harriers after their poor Christmas period of one draw and two defeats against teams close to them in the table is a big injury list for tomorrow's opponents.
Ninth-placed play-off chasers Woking -- with three draws behind them in the same spell, including disappointing 0-0 home stalemates with Crawley and Dagenham & Redbridge -- have a string of doubts, such as key defender Stuart Nethercott.
Former Harriers forward Mark Rawle, with just one league goal in 16 appearances mostly from the bench, is another.
Harriers' last two visits to Kingfield saw them win 3-0 in the FA Cup in 2003 and clinch promotion to the Football League in April 2000, despite a 1-0 defeat.
Thompson (foot), Christie (ankle) and Wayne Hatswell (bruised calf) will need fitness tests but should be available.
O'Connor added: "None of them have been 100 per cent for a while now.
"I've had three reports on Woking but they've all been contrasting. We know their strengths and weaknesses though and will cover all eventualities."
