SIR - I read rough sleeper Jesus's mother came over from America to collect her son's ashes. This is a very tragic story, which has affected me very much. I am a housebound 84-year-old who cannot go out alone. I have a wonderful son and family who live in Lower Broadheath so I do have something to be thankful for. If only I could go for walks alone!
Anyway, Jesus's story really affected me. I sent a small cheque to Maggs. It was no good writing to Tony Blair, he only cares for himself. I also wrote to Sir Michael Spicer saying we are a Christian country and no one should have to sleep on our streets - it is not right. I have had a number of letters from Sir Michael and I am sure he will help if he can.
The fact that a man has died of cold is totally wrong and has really upset me. Had he been outside my home it would not have happened - I would have raised the alarm. People must have seen him so why was nothing done? I would feel so guilty if I had lived near.
M EDWARDS,
Cotheridge.
