ANYONE who took the trouble to read the latest Bewdley Tory leaflet could be forgiven if they believed that Stephen Clee and Co were solely responsible for the new bus shelters that are shortly to be installed in Bewdley and for the extended road closure which enabled the street fair and the turning on of the Christmas Lights to be such a success.
The facts are that Bewdley Town Council and Opportunity Bewdley are working together towards the replacement of all the bus shelters in Bewdley.
Through Opportunity Bewdley funding has been secured for two new shelters in Load Street and, through the safe routes to school scheme, in Cleobury Road.
Consultations are also in progress to replace two other shelters in Wribbenhall and another in Cleobury Road.
With regards to the extended road closure in Load Street, this was mainly achieved by the hard work of Councillor Jermey Ferguson on behalf of the town council and supported by the Christmas Lights Committee and the Chamber of Trade in consultation with the police and the highways department.
Councillor Clee once said: "Parish councils are the backbone of our society. Their members do an enormous amount of good for their local communities and added that the Conservative group fully support them."
If he truly believes this why has he tried to take the credit for all their hard work?
