THE Vale of Evesham National Childbirth Trust is running a home birth workshop which will inform mums-to-be about the choices of where they give birth.
Trainee antenatal teacher Clare Charlton, who has been training for the past three years, and midwife Lynn Ratcliffe are holding the workshop at the Red Cross centre in Briar Close, Evesham next Wednesday.
Clare and Lynn, from the Vale of Evesham NCT, are holding the workshop to offer women and their partners the chance to find out more about the benefits of home births while answering any queries they may have.
Clare, a mother-of-three young children, said: "Although home births are not very common in the Vale we're aiming to let mums-to-be and their partners know it's available to them. Women don't have to opt for the traditional hospital birth.
"A home birth can provide the support and comfort a woman needs."
The workshop is open to anyone interested in finding out more about home births with a delivery pack at the Red Cross centre detailing what a midwife will bring with her at a home birth.
There will also be the chance for visitors to have a closer look at a birthing pool and both antenatal teachers will be available to answer any questions.
Clare added: "This is the first home birth workshop to be run by the NCT and we're hoping to run plenty more in the New Year."
The event takes place from 7.30pm until 9.30pm on Wednesday, January 11 and costs £2.50 a person.
