DESPITE failing to pick up a point over Christmas and New Year, Evesham United remain in touch with their fellow strugglers at the wrong end of the Southern League Premier Division.

Seven sides have now become detached from the remainder of the division and only Cirencester managed any success in the festive schedule.

Town followed up a win at Common Road with a 2-1 success at Cheshunt last Saturday only to then lose 3-1 at home to Yate Town on Monday.

Chesham picked up three points from a trio of draws including a 1-1 scoreline at rock bottom Northwood on Monday.

Their opening draw was against Aylesbury last week but it proved the Ducks' solitary point after defeats against Rugby and Bedford.

Like the Robins, Gloucester City and Cheshunt both failed to add to their points totals and Dave Busst's men will be hoping to get their first points of 2006 when in form Rugby Town visit Common Road on Saturday before Evesham face five successive matches on opposition soil.
