BEWDLEY town councillors are appealing for information after a Bewdley sign disappeared from the town.
The sign, which had the town's name and coat of arms on it, used to be on Stourport Road, at the top of Blackstone Bank, and was one of two remaining old-style signs in the town.
The other is situated on Kidderminster Road, near West Midland Safari Park.
Councillor Paul Gittins, who first noticed the sign was missing several weeks ago, said he thought a car might have crashed into it, adding: "The post is still there but the sign is missing.
"I am concerned because it is an old Bewdley-type sign. The only other one is by the safari park. They used to be all around the gateways to the town."
There used to be six around the town but as they have needed replacing over the years, cheaper and more modern signs, which do not have the town's coat of arms on them, have been put in their place.
Mr Gittins, who said the original signs had been in Bewdley for as long as he could remember, regularly cleans the remaining sign, and added: "When you come into Bewdley, it is the first thing you see.
"It gives an impression of the town."
Anyone with information about what has happened to the Stourport Road sign can contact the town clerk's office in Load Street on 01299 400157 or Bewdley Police Station on 08457 444 888.
