Ratepayers in Pershore look like having to dig deeper into their pockets to meet council tax demands.
A meeting of Pershore Town Council is being held tonight to discuss the budget for the next financial year.
Councillors are being recommended to include up to £12,165 extra to allow for the appointment of a full-time town clerk and an extra £1,000 under Christmas decorations to allow for professional testing of the lights before erection, as required by law.
A report going to the council reveals that if the maximum sum of £12,165 is added to the salaries budget and the £1,000 under the Christmas decorations heading, the precept would be increased to £137,625 which equals an increase of 11.95 per cent over last year.
If the lower salary sum of £5,014, plus the £1,00 for Christmas lights, were to be included, the precept would increase to £128,174, equal to 5.32 per cent.
The county council, district council, police, fire and water authority precepts will have to be added to make up the final demand.
