KEEN Broom swimmers took part in a sponsored swim raising more than £4,000 to help with the reconstruction of the village hall.
Adults in their 80s to children as young as three put on their swimming gear and swam lengths at the High Street pool to help raise funds for the hall.
Organiser Roy Lester was surprised with the number of people who took part in the event and was pleased everyone in Broom showed their active support for the project.
Mr Lester said: "The number of people who turned up was wonderful. People who don't normally take part in any village activities took part. It really was great to see so many villagers."
All the money raised will go towards the re-construction of the Broom village hall which is a timber building that was handed into the care of the residents by WI members earlier this year.
