A KIDDERMINSTER couple had "a great start to the year" with the birth of their daughter on New Year's Day.
Kacey-Louise Dixon was born at Worcestershire Royal Hospital at 8.25am and weighed 8lbs 14oz.
Her parents, Andrew Dixon, 19, a plumber, and Charlotte Perry, 19, a shop assistant, took their daughter home on Tuesday.
Mr Dixon said the couple did not expect Kacey-Louise, who is their first child, to be born on New Year's Day, as she was due on December 22.
He added: "We thought then it was going to be on Christmas Day but to be on New Year's Day was a great start to the year. It was a great gift. She is wonderful. She is absolutely beautiful."
Miss Perry said her daughter was doing well and it was nice that she was born on New Year's Day, although she had had a bit of a wait.
The baby's proud grandmother, Tracey Dixon, who lives with her husband, Robin, in Stourbridge Road, said: "She is lovely, very beautiful with lots of black hair."
Her other grandparents are Michelle and Robert Perry, who live in Spennells.
