CIVIC dignitaries in Wyre Forest have come up with an unusual way of raising money for their charities.
Bewdley mayor, Liz Davies, Bewdley mayoress, Anne Mace and Kidderminster mayoress, Helen Dyke will be starting a three-month sponsored diet next week.
They decided to wait until after the Christmas and New Year festivities before starting their slimming challenge, which will run from Saturday, January 14 until April 14.
Mrs Davies said: "It is going to be good for our health. It is a fairly original idea of raising money for our charities. Anything we make will be equally divided between the mayors' charities of Kidderminster and Bewdley.
"We shall be looking for sponsors. It will encourage good discipline in the three of us as when we go public and say we will do it, we have to."
Mrs Davies said they would each be doing their own different types of diet and anyone interested in joining them would be welcome. To sponsor the mayor and mayoresses, contact 01299 403053.
