THE design for a new bridge to be built in one of Worcester's most popular parks has been chosen and is now on display.
The oak footbridge will cross the brook in Gheluvelt Park, off Barbourne Road, Barbourne, near to the tennis courts and meet the existing path at the bottom of the slope. The design is the same as the bridge installed near to the park's playground.
Allen Barnatt, chairman of the Friends of Gheluvelt Park working committee, said the new bridge was a benefit to the park.
He said: "We are totally happy with this design. The bridge will be a big addition to the park.
"It's really going to look nice."
The order for the bridge is due to be placed shortly. Building is expected to take about two months. It is hoped that it will be installed in the park in the spring.
The previous bridge design was rejected because it spoilt the view from the Sons of Rest building to the Pump House Environ-mental Centre, interfered with the play area from the tennis courts to the duck pond and would have led to the closure of the path alongside the brook.
The design is on show at the Pump House.
