PATIENTS and staff at Redditch's Alexandra Hospital are joining in birthday celebrations for Hospital Radio Pulse at the end of its 5th year of broadcasting.
The station, which serves patients, visitors and staff at the hospital, has rounded off a hectic year by being dubbed the number one listened to station on the bedside Patient Line system.
The station, run by volunteers, broadcasts 24 hours a day on the Patient Line system, and to visitors and staff via 1350AM.
Programme controller Ian Barstow said 2005 had been an amazing year although there were worries when their old studio mixing desk had broken.
"But we were bowled over by the generosity of the companies and people of Redditch, which allowed us to buy a new desk and continue broadcasting," he said.
"To end the year as the most listened to station is a real bonus for all the hard work our volunteer members have put into the station this year."
He said they hoped to continue the success in 2006 with many big events planned as well as new presenters and shows.
Anyone interested in joining the station can email studio@hospitalradiopulse.com for more details.
