Our President Shirley opened our December meeting by warmly welcoming members and visitors from other institutes to our 2005 Christmas party.
Mindful of the importance of our celebrations, Maggie skipped efficiently through the business of the minutes and gave us a few reminders for the 'New Year'.

Shirley presented Sheila Morris with the Handicrafts Cup as overall competition winner for 2005.
The December competition for the smallest Christmas card was won by Olive with Sheila M taking both second and third place. The evening was once again different from recent years. We were introduced to what proved to be an excellent speaker- Marion Canning who is a toastmaster. Olwyn gave an enthusiastic vote of thanks on behalf of us all.
Next Wednesday at at 7.30pm will be our first meeting of the New Year. We are inviting members to bring their partner or a friend to hear a very entertaining speaker - Phil Sayers.
