THE Bromsgrove and District Canine Society (ringcraft section) finished its 70th anniversary year with a Christmas match meeting against the ringcraft club from Pershore.
Our judge for the evening was Peter Schoneville, a gundog championship show judge from Stafford. It was a superb turn out for both clubs, 60 dogs being present.
There were special anniversary rosettes, and prizes, and excellent refreshments provided by Mr and Mrs Peplow.
The evening began with the puppy walk for under six-month old-pups. There were nine of these and Pershore was awarded first and second overall - 1st, Abbie Gomel's black American Cocker; 2nd, Mrs Westerman's Shetland Sheepdog.
The puppy match for 6 to 12-month-old pups was closely contested, and Pershore again won this, with Bromsgrove members second, third and fourth. 1st, Mrs Taylor's Beagle; 2nd, Mr Dave King's Whippet.
Best adult was very competitive with 33 entries. The three dogs in the final were a boxer from Pershore, a Welsh Springer Spaniel from Bromsgrove and the eventual winner, and Best In Match Mr and Mrs Tarling's Whippet, again representing Bromsgrove.
Points at the end were Bromsgrove winners with 17 match wins, Pershore 13. Last time the two clubs met, Pershore triumphed overall, but on that occasion the Best in Match winner was also a whippet from Bromsgrove. Ringcraft is now closed until next Wednesday. Our next show will be held on Saturday, February 4.
