JENNIFER JONES was just 19 when she died of bone cancer last summer.
Now friends of the Blackwell teenager are determined she won't be forgotten and aim to raise cash for a cancer charity in her memory.
School friend Abbie Southall, of Fulton Close, Harwood Park, says the target is to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust and she is appealing for old and unwanted mobile phones..
Abbie actually works for a mobile phone recycling company, Aurom Environmental, in Kidderminster Road, Bromsgrove.
She says she hopes the challenge will raise greater awareness of the charity.
The former South Bromsgrove High School pupil said: "I lost a dear school friend to cancer and wanted to do something to raise awareness of cancer in younger people.
"The aim is to collect as many mobiles as I can. These will then be refurbished and resold and the cash will go to the Teenage Cancer Trust."
Abbie said Jennifer had done work for the charity raising cash and now she wanted to carry on her good work.
Teenage Cancer Trust focuses on the needs of teenagers and young adults by providing specialist units in NHS hospitals. These are dedicated areas for the teenage patient and contain items such as computers and games consoles.
Anyone who has a mobile to donate should contact Abbie on 07843 800695.
