THERE was a bloomin' marvellous day at a Frankley school when children took part in a hyacinth festival.
Last October children at Holly Hill School, in New Street, had the chance to buy a bulb and pot, for £1, and plant it at school, before taking it home to care for the flower.
The pupils took their bulbs back to school just before Christmas for the special festival.
Headteacher Elizabeth Leather said: "All the children enjoyed caring for their bulb, watching it grow and developing their understanding of how living things change.
"Any money left over from buying the bulbs will go towards refurbishment of the school library," she added.
