CONTROVERSIAL plans to create six new football pitches in the grounds of Redditch United - which were withdrawn in the autumn - have been resubmitted.
The football club wants the town council's planning committee to consider its proposal to build the all-weather pitches on Terry Spring Field.
The club withdrew the proposals before they reached committee stage, after planning officers advised them to make some minor amendments.
When the plans were first submitted, residents living nearby expressed concerns that if they went ahead there would be increased noise and traffic.
They were also anxious Terry Spring Field, left to residents by the Terry family, was being exploited for commercial gain - despite promises from the Reds that it would be for community use.
But Redditch Councillor Greg Chance, who represents the central ward, has offered reassurance that residents will be consulted on the new proposal.
"Our constituents are very important," he said.
"When this proposal first came up we spoke to residents about the matter and listened to their concerns and we will do the same this time.
"Hopefully if we consult with both the constituents and Redditch United we will be able to find a middle way which everyone is happy with."
He added: "I am supportive of increasing the amount of sports facilities in Redditch as long as they are available for all residents and not just for the club."
The matter will be discussed by the planning committee at a forthcoming meeting.
