MEMBERS were welcomed to the November meeting by newly elected president Netta Pearson and were reminded of the group carol service at Alvechurch on December 14.
Irene Purslow's light-hearted talk and slide show, Fun With Famous Faces, cheered up a cold afternoon.
Over the past 20 years, Irene and her sister Anne have met and been photographed with numerous celebrities when attending charity fetes, concerts, theatres and especially the BBC's Pebble Mill studios.
The resulting collection of instantly recognisable faces from TV, films, sport, music and art was fascinating. Irene had a short story to tell with each slide, beginning with oldies like Larry Greyson, Ken Dodd and Tony Bennett, and more recently Jeremy Paxman, Nick Owen and Rolf Harris.
