IT was pleasing to see so many members at the last club meeting because the whole evening was particularly enjoyable, probably because it had such variety and everyone had an opportunity to speak.
One particular aspect of speaking in public is to "time manage" - we all have known experienced speakers who have no concept of time and can drone on.
So the skill of speaking to a set time is a skill learnt within the club. This was well demonstrated by members during the impromptu speaking section when seven members were asked to speak for three minutes on subjects chosen by the chairman.
The main speeches prepared by three members gave the opportunity to hear a new member speaking from the lectern for the first time, followed by a member on number three of the assignments within the training manual and one of the club's senior member demonstrating the final assignment in the training manual.
If you are interested in learning how to speak in public with confidence, come along to take a look. The club meets alternative Tuesdays at 7.30 for 7.45pm at the Quality Hotel, Redditch. For more details, call Alan Young on 459516 or visit www.redditchspeakersclub.co.uk
