MALVERN Town U16s visited Bredon Colts U16s for this top-of-the-table Mercian Festival Junior League fixture.
BREDON COLTS U16s 1, MALVERN TOWN U16s 1
Both teams started the match brightly and within the first minute a Ricky Buckland free-kick hit the corner of the cross-bar but Malvern were unable to bury the rebound. On 17 minutes Malvern conceded a penalty which Bredon duly converted to take the lead. The pressure continued and on 22 minutes Dan Harris in the Malvern goal had to pull off some superb saves when Bredon hit the post and a goal-mouth scramble ensued. Shortly after this, Bredon were reduced to ten men but Malvern were unable to make the advantage count.
The second-half was a repeat of the first with both teams battling hard despite the heavy pitch. On 22 minutes, a fine run from Kurt Doyle set up James Lush whose shot found its way into the goal with the opposition defenders watching it, to draw the scores level. The pressure continued with Ted Grizzell being forced to save a certain goal by clearing the ball over the bar on 35 minutes. Despite both teams battling hard, the scoreline remained 1-1 at the final whistle with Malvern retaining their unbeaten league record.

LITTLETONS U15S 1,
NEWTOWN SPORTS COLTS U15S 5
NEWTOWN Sports Colts returned to winning ways after an unprecedented run of defeats when they visited Littletons last Sunday.
For once, the Colts started brightly, with Buckle setting up Budd in the first few minutes but Littletons rode their luck. The Colts continued to play well but after 10 minutes were hit on the counter-attack, with Littletons finishing off a flowing move. The Colts responded with Newell, Powell, Jaye, Caffull and Allison linking well in midfield.
Eventually, the Colts equalised with Powell finishing off a good run with a rasping shot. The Colts then took the lead when Crane's fine shot was parried, and Newell did very well to retrieve the ball and fire it into the roof of the net.
In the second-half, the Colts continued to apply the pressure, and managed to increase the lead when Newell bundled in a Powell corner. Johnson had to make one or two smart saves, though Roskams, Elmes, Morse and Scullion did well in the Colts defence. Allison added brace of goals, both great finishes from the edge of the box, as the confidence returned to the Colts game.
This was a much better performance by the Colts against a skilful Littletons' team
DROITWICH SPA AZTECS U10S 1,
LEIGH & Bransford BADGERS U10S 4
THE Badgers produced their best performance of the season in this match and from the start Droitwich pressed forward and created a couple of early chances.
The Badgers then began to create their own chances and in the fifth minute they took the lead. Joe Davies converted a Daniel Roberts corner after it had bobbled around the area. Five minutes later Joe repaid the favour and provided the cross for Daniel Roberts to fire home. The Badgers continued to battle and challenge for every ball, Oliver Harcombe and Fred Van Vuren were immense in defence.
The second-half continued with the Badgers on top, creating chances. When Droitwich did break through, Daniel Watson was there to mop up and produced a number of telling tackles and clearances.
Half-way through the second-half, the Badgers increased their lead with Michael Eades scoring after the goalkeeper could not hold the ball. A couple of minutes later, his brother William Eades scored the Badgers' fourth goal. Droitwich finally managed to beat Nicholas Snowdon in the last minute, having previously made a number of excellent saves during the match.
Performance of the week was by Daniel Watson.
The previous week, Leigh & Bransford Badgers U10s defeated Worcester Wizards U10s 4-3. On target for Badgers were Joe Davies (two), Edwin Stephen and Daniel Roberts with a penalty kick.

Ombersley were strong in defence despite this and scored a goal themselves following some skillfull passing.
In the second-half, Adam Page continued his fine form with two more goals. Nick Smith, Max Lobo, Aimee Colbourne and James Wilkes played strong in defence which prevented Ombersley from increasing their score, as did the skills of Courtney Bray in goal.
