It will be a case of 'jingle bells' with a vengeance at lunchtime tomorrow (Saturday) when around 80 morris dancers from a wide area will converge on the Brewers' Arms for their annual meet! This will be the first of a growing number of festive season events around the village. On Saturday, December 17, there will be a Christmas quiz at the Royal British Legion Club in Lower Road from 8pm, for a first prize of £100. Teams can consist of up to six, which can be pre-arranged or made up on the night. Tickets are £5 per person, to include supper, with all proceeds going to the Friends of St James's Church, whose chairman, Gwyn Klee, will be setting the questions.
On the following Tuesday, December 20, Colin Robinson will be once again be serving his free senior citizen's Christmas lunch at the Lamb Inn, with a sit-down meal, Father Christmas in attendance and bingo afterwards to settle the mince pies! All OAPs in the village are welcome, but if you do plan to come, Colin would appreciate a phone call on 577847 to help with catering numbers.
