I read with interest the letter from David Marsden (Your Letters, November 25) about the proposed link road between the A449 at Newland and the Leigh Sinton Road. I feel I need to enlighten Mr Marsden on some issues, especially regarding Upper and Lower Howsell Roads.
The traffic from the North Site development is likely to have a huge impact on the surrounding area, but especially on Leigh Sinton Road, Church Road, Newtown Road and Upper and Lower Howsell Roads.
In fact, rumour has it that the developer has already acquired land in order to widen the junction at Lower Howsell Road and the Worcester Road. So, they at least realise the problems likely in that area.
Any new link road would alleviate traffic from all of these areas. It would carry new and existing traffic from the North Site area directly to the Newland roundabout, thus bypassing the Link and North Malvern. So, yes, we have "given thought to the immediate and future impact of such a road on the northern end of Malvern", and it would actually solve a lot of the imminent traffic problems.
