CHRISTMAS is supposed to be the season of peace and goodwill, but so much can go wrong, says Suckley author Mike Jackson, who has just published Bad Christmas.
Subtitled "Funny stories about terrible Christmases", the book was inspired when Mr Jackson's wife was injured one Christmas Day and they had to spend the holiday in hospital.
"The place was full of people having a really bad day and I realised there was a book in this," he said.
Mr Jackson - a freelance TV director - asked for stories when he was promoting his books on the M4, M5 and M6 motorways, and was inundated with tales of disaster.
"Some of them were really rude. I've had to tone them down, but even so, it's not a book for children.
"If you've got a grumpy relative who hates Christmas, buy him this book instead of socks. It'll show him there are worse things that can happen."
Bad Christmas is available from local bookshops or from www.badchristmas.co. uk.
