STOURPORT Civic Centre should be sold for development as a hotel, wholly in keeping with the town's exciting future role of a river and canal tourist hot spot.
The sale proceeds should be used to build a theatre/community hall with modern facilities, without the imposition of the designated catering firm that currently discourages private hire of the existing civic hall.
The Raven Street car park would be a good site for the new building, raising far more revenue than the parking of a few cars, and ensuring that the community hall's activities remain town centre based.
Let Kidderminster have the district's civic offices.
Stourport townsfolk deserve better than their out-dated and under-used facilities, the replacement of which would breathe new community spirit into the town of which we are so proud.
Not many places exist that can compete with the atmosphere of village friendliness which is felt as one walks down our High Street - ask any "Brummie" visitor.
mq Stourport has been neglected for so long, but now it is on the way up. Let us make the most of this opportunity to build a new centre in which to focus Stourport's unique character.
