WHEN Maureen Morgan went into hospital for major surgery to treat cancer, her thoughts turned to her grandchildren.
As the weeks passed she began writing down her thoughts.
And by the time she was well enough to leave hospital the Chipping Norton grandmother had sufficient to fill a book. And that's just what she did.
With the help of a friend, Patricia Hansen, from Broadway, who agreed to edit and design the book for print, she enlisted the help of Evesham artist Nikki Moulton as illustrator.
The result is Granny's Bedtime Stories, a compendium of tales about her own grandchildren, Amelie and Finlay and about Cooper Kininnook, the son of Drs David and Heidi Baines, members of her extended family.
Maureen said: "I wrote many of these stories while I was in hospital having been diagnosed with cancer that required major surgery.
"They were intended for my grandchildren's pleasure and gave a purpose for the weeks I lay wondering what was in store for me.
"It was during this time that I came to realise that the stories could possibly generate funds for charity."
Maureen has given the book to Lions Clubs to market.
Lions Clubs throughout the region will put the book on sale in the New Year, but in the meantime signed copies can be obtained direct from the author by sending a cheque for £5 plus £1.50 postage and packing. They will be in time for Christmas if ordered now.
