Members of the Kidderminster branch heard an illustrated talk on "Impressions of the Tropics", presented by Gerry Griffiths, of Avian Adventures.
He showed scenes of rain, cloud and dry forests, at various altitudes, sun-dried beaches, and the flora and fauna of South Africa and Namibia, the Americas and Costa Rica, and including Uluru (Ayers Rock) and the Great Barrier Reef.
There was a picture of a green-backed heron picking up toast, placing it on the water and waiting for fish to surface, then catching them.
At Habberley Valley on the final field meeting of the year, 19 species were identified, including a flock of long-tailed tits.
On Wednesday at St Oswald's Church Centre, Kidderminster, at 7.30pm, Chris Jones, of the West Midlands Bird of Prey Centre, will talk of his work involving the rescue and after-care of ill and injured birds.
Non-members will be welcome. There is no field meeting in December.
