A GUIDE written by health and education workers in Kidderminster to support children with language and communication skills has won a national book award.
Language for Learning Across the Curriculum has been penned by specialist teacher Sue Hayden, who works for Worcestershire County Council's access and inclusion learning support service, and Emma Jordan, a speech and language therapist.
Their efforts won the National Association of Special Educational Needs/Times Educational Supplement Special Educational Needs Book Award in the category for teaching and learning.
The judges singled the book out as a "great accessible all-round resource that demystifies the magic wand of the speech therapist."
It aims to be a practical guide for teaching staff who support pupils with language and communication difficulties and has so far sold more than 500 copies nationally.
The pair joined forces five years ago to develop courses and train staff.
