Redditch II 1, Evesham II 4
SATURDAY'S Coaching Solutions West Midlands League Division One game saw Evesham take on their county rivals and fellow strugglers.
Evesham started the better and won a series of short corners but they lacked the necessary composure in front of goal.
However, great inter-play between Paul Miller and Matt Grumball put Rob Leighton clear on goal and he calmly slotted the goal under the stranded goalkeeper.
Redditch responded instantly and were unlucky not to level when Daryl Drinkwater gave away a number of needless short corners with reckless challenges.
Just when it looked as if the visitors would take a deserved lead into the break the hosts finally managed to breach the visiting rearguard.
The second half was evenly contested with the home side having the majority of the possession but they were unable to break down the defence of Rich Haines, Mark Dufty and Roger Hemming.
Adrian Russell, making his first league appearance for a number of years, gave Evesham an extra dimension and his telling passes started to cause Redditch problems and they gave away numerous free hits on the edge of the D.
Paul Martin took one of these hits quickly and Drinkwater made no mistake to find the roof of the net and restore Evesham's lead.
From then on they never looked like losing and Leighton bagged his second goal on his return to his old club. Mark Dufty then made one last surging run and top scorer John Grumble converted the res-ulting short corner.
Evesham entertain West Brom-wich at the High School on Satu-rday (3pm).
