A SUCCESSFUL social evening in connection with the Christian Endeavour Society was held in the schoolroom of the Baptist church, Cookhill, on Wednesday of last week.
The Rev W E Hurst, who presided, delivered a short and appropriate address.
The remainder of the evening was devoted to games and various types of refreshments were handed round at intervals.
Mr Upton Wright contributed largely to the enjoyment of the evening by accompanying the games etc and singing two songs, The Wonderful Musician and In a Little Log Hut.
At the close, the president of the society, Mr H Richardson, proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the Rev Hurst, Mr Wright and the ladies who had assisted with the refreshments.
He was sorry that this would be the last social at which they would have the pleasure of Rev Hurst's company and hoped he would find his new ministry in Leicester a congenial one.
