STOURPORT and District Youth League officials have moved to reassure players and parents that the under-eights division will be continuing - but secretary Jenny Pollitt confirmed the current format is under review.
It was feared that local football for that age-group was set to be scrapped after discussions that the teams were not equal in terms of ability, with the top sides heavily beating the bottom sides on a regular basis.
But Pollitt insisted that talks were ongoing and a definite decision over the future format of the division would hopefully be made in the New Year.
Meanwhile, Steven Smith hit a hat-trick to help Rock Under-12s beat Kinver Colts 5-0 with George Davies and Tom Evans also on target.
U-11 Neil Poulton also fired a treble, steering Areley Kings youth to a 4-0 win over Rock, Jack Childs contributing one goal.
Ben Smith scored twice as Bewdley U-10s won 2-1 against Brintons, whose goal came from Patrick Birch.
Ferndale Flyers U-9s beat Ferndale Youth 3-1, with James Smith, Sam Yates and Ben Preece scoring for the Flyers, and Callum Parker for Youth.
In the U-9s Cup, Kidderminster Lions Harry Martin and Joshua Ganderton scored a goal each to give their team a 2-1 win over Wyre Forest Panthers, for who Danny Leigh scored.
Mostyn Rangers U-15s won 3-1 at home to Hasbury Colts, thanks to Simon Davies, Shaun Merryweather and Dave Lilley.
