CHRISTMAS came early for a lucky turkey that was discovered dumped outside an animal sanctuary near Bromsgrove.
The turkey was found outside Farm Animal Sanctuary, in Stoney Lane, Broad Green, in a box last week. Attached to the box was a note asking to give the bird a good home.
Maureen Lawless from the sanctuary said: "The turkey looked a bit scruffy and a little old, but we will give it a good home and look after it."
By coincidence Maureen had a telephone call the following day from a woman in Tunbridge Wells enquiring about adopting an animal as a Christmas present for her mum, she was particularly looking for a turkey.
So as the turkey was unnamed Maureen said the woman's mum could choose a name, so Tinsel was chosen.
Animal lovers are also needed to get their singing voices tuned for the sanctuary's Carols in the Barn session this Sunday at 6pm.
Children are being encouraged to bring along their teddy bears and Santa will also be visiting.
Admission is £2 for adults and £1 children.
