A GROUP of fundraisers is set to take part in the final event of a campaign this weekend (December 10-11).
The Mount Carmel Make Poverty History Group is rounding off its year's work with the final White Band Day on Saturday and will put a white band around the tower of Mount Carmel Church.
Members have campaigned throughout the year and "white banded" St Stephen's Church in the first event.
They collected signatures from all members of their parishes throughout the region on White Bands and took them with two coach loads of people to the event in Edinburgh in July, as well as lobbying Parliament last month.
Jane Lavery, one of the members of the Mount Carmel group, said in the final event they would white band the church tower and had arranged for everyone to bring torches and light up the tower.
"The idea is to spotlight the Make Poverty History Campaign - this is the final push for the campaign," she said.
"It's a great way to round off this year but we will definitely be continuing next year."
