BROOM Village Hall is set to benefit from an extra £5,000 to help in its revamp.
It was confirmed at a Bidford Parish Council meeting last month the county council had agreed a grant of £5,000 towards the hall.
And clerk Elisabeth Uggerloese said Stratford District Council had agreed to the parish council's request for the balance of £50,000 from the grant agreed for the Crawford Hall and Social Centre to be transferred to the Broom Village Hall Project.
The hall was given to the village three years ago by the Women's Institute and secured a £100,000 for improvements from the Lottery fund in June.
Villagers felt the building was outdated and small and needed to be rebuilt to meet the needs of those who use it. It is also hoped to build two rooms along with a kitchen and facilities to make it disabled-friendly.
As well as funding from the Lottery fund and the district and parish councils, the group has received donations from companies in the area, including mineral giant Cemex, who recently withdrew from a controversial application to expand a quarry near the village.
And Mrs Uggerloese said the village hall committee had held events in the village to raise funds for the project.
She added: "It really is too small and also expensive to insure due to its present condition, which is why the committee decided to rebuild it, and they have worked extremely hard to raise the necessary funds."
No-one from the village hall committee was available for comment as the Chronicle went to press.
